Droitwich Editorial 19th Aug, 2024   0

FILM fans will be able to enjoy a selection of movies as the hugely popular free outdoor cinema events return to town’s across Wychavon.

Everybody is invited to the screenings, funded by Wychavon for the past five years, and are encouraged to bring along picnic blankets, camping chairs, a picnic, or enjoy food at the many local eateries.

The outdoor cinema experiences are available across the district in Droitwich Spa, Evesham, Pershore, Broadway and at the new Amphitheatre at The Lenches.

All showings, except in Pershore, will start in the evening to make sure it is dark enough for the projection to be visible.

Pershore’s outdoor cinema experience is in collaboration with the Pershore Plum Festival, there will be multiple films shown throughout the daytime on a LED screen.

First up is Grease at 8pm on Friday, August 23 at Droitwich Cricket Club. Next up is Frozen at 11am on Saturday, August 24 at Abbey Park, in Pershore.

There will further showings in Pershore on August 24 including Wonka at 1pm, Top Gun: Maverick at 3.15pm and Mamma Mia at 5.45pm.

The next venue welcoming movie buffs will be the new Ampitheatre at The Lenches, Church Lench, Evesham. The ampitheatre will be showing Top Gun: Maverick from 8.30pm on Sunday, August 25. Visit https://lenchestheatre.co.uk/whats-on/ to prebook.

Next up at 8pm on Saturday, August 31 will be The Greatest Showman at The Village Green, Broadway.

Last but not least will be Bohemian Rhapsody from 8pm on Friday, September 6 at Corporation Meadow, Evesham.

Steve Knight, place projects manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “We know that people look forward to these open-air cinematic experiences – it’s great to have a free experience to enjoy with family and friends.

“We want people to enjoy the local area and I hope people may support local by buying some food and drinks from independent businesses in the area.”

Residents are urged to follow Vale and Spa on Facebook, or check Vale and Spa’s website, as the events are dependent on the weather.
