HALF-CENTURIES from Max Young and Harry Butler helped Droitwich Spa to a dominant 131-run win against Hagley on the final day of the season.
Spa posted 272-7 from their 50 overs and bowled Hagley out for just 141 in 42.3 overs to end the season in style at St Peter’s Playing Fields.
The victory means Droitwich end the Worcestershire County League Division One season in fourth place.
Spa’s top order put the home side in control as openers Martyn Davies (29) and Butler (52) produced a 60-run first-wicket stand.
Davies’ departure brought Jez Hanson (36) to the crease who combined well with Butler.
The dismissal of both Butler and Hanson left Spa in a strong position on 145-3 as Young (69) and Xavier Thuriappah (23) kept the runs flowing.
Young and Thuriappah helped Spa pass the 200-run mark in a 65-run fourth-wicket stand.
Akhtar Iqbal (16) added some useful runs late in the innings as Spa reached 272-7 at the end of their allotted overs.
Michael Stead (2-45) and Jonathan Miles (2-58) took two wickets apiece for Hagley while the former also ran out Spa’s top run scorer Young.
Hagley made a steady start in reply only for Adam Keen (2-32) to remove both of the away side’s openers – Daniel Giles (15) and Miles (27) – in quick succession.
And a solid partnership between Stead (35) and Javon Grosvenor (26) helped the visitors reach 107-2 only to lose both batters in consecutive overs for the addition on zero runs.
However, only Christiaan Levitt (11) made double figures from Hagley’s remaining batters as Spa took the final eight wickets for the concession of just 34 runs as the visitors suffered a dramatic collapse.
Davies (4-29) and Iqbal (3-41) starred with the ball while Kieran Wilkins (1-7) took the final wicket.
Elsewhere, the club’s second side clinched back-to-back promotions with an eight-wicket win at Hagley 2nds.
Droitwich 2nds will play in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League next season.
