DROITWICH Spa produced a scintillating second-half display to thrash Redditch Borough 6-1 in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup.

A brace from Danny Barnes and further goals from Will Dallaway, Alex Dugmore and Woody Hawkett in the second half saw the Saltmen ease to victory after Perry Moss opened the scoring at the King George Playing Fields.

The victory means Andy Crowther has now secured 100 wins as Droitwich boss in just 145 matches at the helm.

Spa took the lead on 13 minutes when Moss’s low drive went through the hands of Borough goalkeeper Josh Murtagh.

However, the visitors drew level five minutes later as Sean Brain beat Dom Rogerson from a tight angle from Kedeiah Warren-Paul’s flick-on.

Saltmen stopper Rogerson then produced a fine acrobatic save to deny Brain a second goal and keep the scores level.

Spa looked a different side after the break and reclaimed the lead just five minutes after the interval.

Barnes prodded the ball over the line after Borough made a mess of trying to clear Moss’s low cross into the box.

And Barnes doubled his tally for the game two minutes later as he touched the ball past Murtagh when one-on-one before finding the net.

Spa sealed their place in the next round on 65 minutes when Dallaway fired home his first senior goal from 10-yards out from Moss’s clever backheel.

The Saltmen made it five on 78 minutes as Dugmore was afforded time and space in the box to finish on the turn.

And substitute Hawkett completed the scoring five minutes from time when he rolled a shot into an empty net after Dugmore selflessly squared the ball to the youngster.

Droitwich make the long trip to Holbeach United in the FA Vase on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Carter’s Park.
