WORCESTERSHIRE Acute Hospitals Charity have launched a Christmas memories appeal to raise cash for reminiscence devices.
The devices are a tool designed to bring comfort, joy and a sense of connection to patients with dementia or cognitive impairment.
The systems allow patients to look into their past and share memories with loved ones, such as songs or news clips.
Spending Christmas in hospital can be particularly isolating and disorienting for elderly and vulnerable patients and reminiscence devices offer a lifeline for connection and activity.
Sophie Burt, head of fundraising and community development said: “Christmas is about connection, joy, and memories.
“With your support, we can make the festive season brighter for our patients by helping them reconnect with their treasured moments and keep spirits high during their hospital stay.”
Each device costs £5,000 and will be used across wards in Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to benefit dementia or cognitive impairment patients.
