RESIDENTS in Droitwich are being warned to be on their guard after a spate of thefts and attempted thefts in the last few days.
Droitwich Police want people living in the town to know they are aware of the incidents which have included attempted vehicle thefts, sightings of raiders on motorbikes wearing balaclavas, and other suspicious activity.
Insp Dave Wise from West Mercia police said: “We take these matters extremely seriously and are committed to identifying those responsible and preventing further offences.”
Reported incidents
• Between December 20 and 23, a Lex Moto Tempus 125 motorcycle in dark grey was stolen from a garage in Hunters Place, Droitwich.
• Overnight on December 23, tools were stolen from a van on Worcester Road, Summerfield, Droitwich.
• At 3.47am on Christmas Day, police responded to an attempted break-in at Long Sling, Droitwich, where three men were disturbed attempting to break into garages.
One suspect discarded a motorbike at the scene, which has been seized as part of our ongoing enquiries.
- At 3.30am on Boxing Day, men were witnessed tampering with a motorbike on Drovers Way, Droitwich, causing damage to its lock before leaving the scene.
• On Christmas Eve, into Christmas morning, a white moped was stolen from the front garden of a property in Little Hill Court.
• Around 3am on Boxing Day, an unknown person was disturbed while attempting to tamper with a motorbike in a suspected theft attempt.
Police say officers have stepped up patrols in the areas where the incidents have taken place. Officers have also been out to investigate and take evidence from the crime scenes.
And the force added, there had been a 13 per cent reduction in offences on the year-to-date.
“However, we recognise the heightened concern generated by this cluster of incidents and are treating them with the utmost priority.”
