Eight arrested on suspicion of drug-dealing as police stop two cars on the M5 in Droitwich and Worcester

EIGHT MEN were arrested on suspicion of drug-dealing when two cars were pulled over by police on the M5 in the early hours of this morning.

Acting on intelligence, officers from Worcestershire Operational Policing Unit (OPU), stopped a grey BMW X3 near Junction 6 (Worcester) of the M5 around 2.10am. Shortly after a grey BMW M3 was pulled over by officers on the M5’s Junction 5 (Droitwich).

Officers found cannabis in both vehicles and a large quantity of cash and mobile phones were also seized. Eight men were arrested at the scene.

Four men, aged 30, 31, 36 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and taken to Worcester Police Station. There they remain in custody, helping police with enquiries.

Four men, aged 23, 25, 27 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and taken to Hereford Police Station. They also remain in custody and are helping police with enquiries.

The 25-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of drug and drink-driving.




Det Insp Dave Knight, from South Worcestershire CID, said: “This was a great result for OPU to stop these cars and make eight arrests, following good intelligence work by officers.

“The men in custody are suspected of bringing drugs into south Worcestershire to sell on which we know causes harm on the communities we are here to protect and serve.


“We will not tolerate drug dealing in our county and will always act on information given to us to help locate and arrest those suspected of being involved and disrupt their criminal enterprises.”
