DROITWICH Spa stretched their lead at the top of the Hellenic League Division One table to nine points following a pulsating 6-5 victory against title rivals Redditch Borough.
In a remarkable contest, Spa twice surrendered a two-goal lead and had only nine players on the pitch when substitute Jack Davies drove an unstoppable shot into the net in injury time at Cherry Tree Walk.
The Saltmen fell behind to Kyle Batchelor’s early header only for a blitz of goals from Nathan Binner, Alex Dugmore and Perry Moss to turn the game in Spa’s favour.
Borough restored parity before half time as Kai Del Kiffin and Batchelor both struck to send the teams into the break locked at three apiece after a frantic first half.
The chaos continued early in the second half as Charlie Tilley restored Spa’s lead before Binner’s tame volley deceived Borough goalkeeper Joe Neeson in a moment to forget for the Redditch shot stopper.
However, the home side reduced the deficit when Kedeiah Warren-Paul found the net while Spa lost defenders Jamie Sauntson and Jack Brighton to the sin-bin for dissent.
Borough made the most of the extra men to draw level two minutes from time as substitute Samuel Yankson finished from close range.
There was still time for one final twist as Davies lashed a venomous shot past a rooted Neeson in injury time to spark wild scenes of celebration on the touching in a fitting end to an absorbing contest.
The 11-goal thriller leaves Droitwich nine points clear at the top of the table.
