MP FOR Droitwich and Evesham recently visited The Heart of England Forest’s site in Naunton Beauchamp, where he met with team members to discuss their plans to restore and expand woodlands across Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
This project aims to create a 30,000-acre forest, with over 2 million trees already planted and 40,000 more planned for the Naunton Beauchamp site alone.
The Heart of England Forest currently spans over 7,000 acres, including 4,685 acres of new woodland and 600 acres of mature and ancient woodland.
As the largest new native broadleaf woodland in England, it provides essential habitats for wildlife and plays a significant role in combating climate change by acting as a major carbon sink.
Nigel Huddleston MP said: “The Heart of England Forest is an excellent initiative that is reversing centuries of woodland decline while creating a vital natural legacy for future generations.
“The team’s dedication to biodiversity, climate resilience, and community engagement is truly commendable.”
