DROITWICH Spa Ladies exited the Division One League Cup after suffering a 5-0 defeat away at Redditch Borough Women.
Spa fought valiantly against the West Midlands Regional League Division One South leaders but Borough ultimately proved too strong in the quarter-final tie at Cherry Tree Walk.
Droitwich went into the fixture on a six-game unbeaten run as Spa tasted defeat for the first time in all competitions since the turn of the year.
And the visitors made the worst possible start as Liberty Windsor burst through the Spa defence and found the net after just 10 minutes.
Borough doubled their lead on the stroke of half time as Bobbi-Lea Birch received a through ball and created space in the box before firing a shot into the net.
Redditch stretched their lead on the hour mark as Windsor scored her second of the game with a powerful shot from just inside the penalty area following a set-piece.
And Borough all but sealed their place in the semi-finals when Grace Murphy slid the ball home from Windsor’s pass from the right after good work from Leanne Foyle.
The home side completed the scoring with virtually the last kick of the game as substitute Millie Connolly-Heath finished from close range.
Droitwich sit six places below leaders Borough in the West Midlands Regional League Division One South table.
However, Spa did battle to an impressive 2-2 draw against Redditch in the league last month.
That came after Droitwich drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture as the two league games took place over consecutive weekends in February.
Droitwich Spa Ladies host Worcester City Women Reserves on Sunday, March 16 in the semi-finals of the County Cup with kick-off at 2pm at the King George Playing Fields.
