A FIRE lit in a garden in Droitwich went out of control and spread to a house this evening.

The incident happened at the property on Worcester Road, across the road from the BP petrol station.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service sent five crews to the scene after receiving a call around 5pm.

West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident.
The road and the petrol station were both closed while the incident was dealt with.

A fire service spokesperson told the Standard the blaze had now been extinguished and one crew was remaining at the scene to damp down the area and ensure it did not reignite.
