A WATERING-HOLE in Ombersley has been named pub of the year in the annual Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards.

The Kings Arms in Ombersley was crowned the winner at an awards evening last Friday (March 21) for the second year in a row.

Tim Hopkins director and owner of the pub’s parent company, Gemini, said: “Thank you to visit Worcestershire for all their great work in our beautiful county.

“While it’s nice to receive recognition, I don’t own businesses for awards. My main goal has always been to run a sustainable business that provides security for our staff, customers, and suppliers.

“The real reward comes from creating a friendly and welcoming place for everyone.

“A huge thank you to Mark Bevan MD (Gemini hospitality group), Russ Fox (Manager) Tash (head chef)and the entire team at the Kings Arms for their hard work and commitment.

“Let’s keep building this great community together, one pint at a time.”

The glamorous event was held at Three Counties Showground and was hosted by TV presenter and food expert, Chris Bavin. The event attracted over 370 attendees from across the business community.

Over 70 finalists were shortlisted by industry-expert judges for the awards ceremony, with 16 winners recognised for their excellence and contribution to the Worcestershire visitor economy.

Lorna Robinson, Visitor Economy and Destination Manager at Visit Worcestershire said: “What can I say except – wow.

“The awards have been an amazing celebration of Worcestershire’s incredible tourism sector.

“Every single finalist and winner should feel truly proud of their achievements.

“The standard of excellence across our county is nothing short of amazing, and it’s this dedication that makes Worcestershire such a thriving and welcoming destination.”

The event also raised vital funds for local charity, Midlands Air Ambulance, with a prize draw raffle filled with Worcestershire prizes generously donated by tourism businesses.

Over £3,500 pounds was raised to support the charity’s lifesaving work in Worcestershire and the wider region.
