SAM Smith took seven wickets as Droitwich Spa CC claimed an emphatic 125-run victory against Burghill, Tillington and Weobley.
Smith returned figures of 7-46 with the ball as Droitwich bowled the visitors out for 148 at St Peter’s Playing Fields.
That came after Droitwich scored 273-8 from their 50 overs as Lincoln Kellett (75) and Harry Butler (55) hit half-centuries.
The result means Spa sit fifth in the Worcestershire County League Division One table.
Burghill won the toss and elected to field but were punished by Spa openers Martyn Davies (37) and Butler (55).
The pair put on 106 runs for Droitwich’s first wicket and fell in quick succession.
However, Jonathan Miles (20) and Xavier Ariam Thuraiappah (22) added some useful runs before Kellett came to the crease.
Kellett smashed 75 runs from 71 deliveries including 11 boundaries to propel Droitwich to 273-8 at the end of their innings.
And a flurry of early wickets left Burghill in trouble on 34-6 in their reply.
Smith ripped through Burghill’s top order with only Sabil Sarmad (52), Ranjit William (29), Afaq Khalid (17) and Tyler Garrard (13) reaching double figures.
And a stunning over from Davies saw the Droitwich captain take two wickets for the loss of just one run with Burghill all out for 148 in the 40th over.
Droitwich are next in action against Netherton on Saturday, May 10 with the game to begin at 12.30pm at St Peter’s Playing Fields.
Elsewhere, the club’s second team suffered a 98-run defeat against Martley at Jewry Field.
Martley posed 248-7 from their 50 overs in the Worcestershire County League Division Three clash.
Droitwich slipped to 12-3 in reply and found themselves in trouble on 104-7.
Martley eventually bowled the visitors out for 150 in the 34th over.
The club’s third XI secured a seven-wicket win at Worcester 3rds.
Worcester closed on 170-8 from their 45 overs and Droitwich needed just 30.3 overs to reach 171-3 and claim victory.
Droitwich’s fourth team claimed a dominant 143-run success against Harvington 2nds.
Spa posted 287-7 from their 45 overs and bowled Harvington out for 144 in 38 overs.
Lastly, the club’s fifth XI lost by 54 runs against Kidderminster 4ths.
Kidderminster reached 298-5 at the end of their innings and bowled Spa out for 244 in the penultimate over.
