Lido Park Tennis sessions celebrate smashing milestone

Droitwich Editorial 7th Jun, 2025   0

THE ORGANISERS of the Lido Park Tennis sessions have been celebrating a smashing success – the 1,000th participant since it was founded in 2018, writes Jeanna Karcz.

The Droitwich group made its mission to make tennis more affordable and accessible to people within the community, offering low-cost tennis sessions which cater to a diverse age range and skill level, also accommodating players with disabilities. Participants now range in age from two years old to 90.

Lido Park Tennis also runs an extensive outreach programme dedicated to providing access to the sport for individuals with a range of disabilities or personal challenges.

This scheme ensures that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to engage in physical activity and benefit from the social and health advantages which tennis offers.

The programme is tailored to meet the specific needs of participants, offering adaptive equipment and personalised coaching to ensure an inclusive experience.

Neil Bates, from Lido Park Tennis, said: “We are thrilled to have reached our 1,000th participant and it is incredible to see how far we’ve come since we started in 2018.

“Our aim has always been to make tennis accessible to everyone, and this milestone is a clear indication that we are succeeding in getting people active.

“We are grateful to all our participants, volunteers, supporters and a special mention for Wychavon District Council which has been behind us right from the very start supporting everything we are trying to achieve.”
