THE MP for Droitwich has welcomed the return of early morning services from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham New Street station.

The previous 7:37am service from Worcestershire Parkway was removed from the timetable earlier this year, significantly impacting local residents who commute to Birmingham for work and adding pressure to the next viable service at 8:14am.

After speaking to concerned to constituents, Nigel Huddleston MP wrote to the senior leadership teams at CrossCountry Trains and Network Rail, as well as submitting a Written Parliamentary Question to the relevant Minister.

CrossCountry and Network Rail have since jointly announced a new 7:25am service from Worcestershire Parkway which will arrive at Birmingham New Street at 7:55am. The new service will be introduced from Monday, September 15, 2025.

Nigel Huddleston said: “The cancellation had, quite understandably, caused significant concern among my constituents, many of whom raised this with me directly.

“I too was concerned to hear of this change in service and therefore contacted CrossCountry and Network Rail, as well as raising enquiries with the Minister for Local Transport.

“I am pleased to learn the organisations have resolved this matter and that an earlier departure from Worcestershire Parkway will be introduced.

“This is good news for commuters travelling to Birmingham and I would like to thank the collaborative effort of all the operators involved.”
