“I would like to commend the victim and their family for their bravery in coming forward and assisting with the process which has secured a conviction and ultimately taken a very dangerous individual off the streets.

“We hope the sentence will some way assist the victim in moving on with their lives with the correct support and assistance moving forward.

“I would also like to thank the officers who have worked tirelessly throughout this investigation in order to obtain this substantial sentence their hard work over several years has assisted in securing this conviction.

“We hope that today’s sentencing shows that we will always pursue sexual predators like Lane and bring them before the courts to face justice and that it will encourage other victims of sexual offences to come forward.
