A lucky ticket holder in the United Kingdom has scooped an astonishing £181 million jackpot in Tuesday night’s EuroMillions draw, delivering one of the biggest lottery wins in British history and sparking excitement across the country.
The life changing prize of £181,073,415.70 is now the third largest win ever recorded for a UK player through the National Lottery, according to operator Allwyn. Millions of players are now checking their tickets in the hope they might be the mystery winner behind the historic result.
The winning numbers were 12, 14, 27, 44 and 50, with Lucky Star numbers 04 and 12. One UK player matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to land the full jackpot.
Two other players also celebrated significant wins. One matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star to take home £355,164.90, while another matched all five main numbers to claim £16,601.50.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, said the result is fantastic news for the country.
“Brilliant news, someone in the UK has scooped a life changing £181 million,” he said.
“This is the biggest win of 2026 so far and the third biggest UK National Lottery prize ever. With that size fortune, the winner now has wealth comparable to global stars such as Adele, whose net worth is estimated at around £170 million.”
A European Game With British Winners
While the jackpot is celebrated as a National Lottery win in the UK, EuroMillions is actually a multinational draw played across several European countries.
Introduced in 2004, the game allows players from nations including the UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg to compete for enormous jackpots.
In the UK, EuroMillions tickets are sold through the National Lottery system and prizes are administered by Allwyn, meaning British winners are counted among the National Lottery’s growing list of millionaires.
A Lottery With a Proud History
The National Lottery itself first launched in November 1994 and has since become one of Britain’s most successful fundraising initiatives.
Over the past three decades it has raised more than £48 billion for good causes, helping fund thousands of projects ranging from grassroots sport and community initiatives to heritage restoration and arts programmes.
Lottery funding has also supported elite athletes and major cultural institutions, demonstrating how everyday ticket purchases contribute to projects that benefit communities across the UK.
What £181 Million Could Buy
A jackpot of £181 million opens the door to extraordinary possibilities.
The winner could purchase several of Britain’s most luxurious homes, including multi million pound properties in areas such as Kensington or Mayfair, where prime homes can sell for more than £20 million.
The fortune could also buy a private jet, a fleet of supercars, or a luxury yacht, while still leaving vast wealth to invest for the future.
Financial experts often note that with careful investment, a prize of this size could generate millions of pounds in income each year, providing financial security for generations.
For now the identity of the winner remains unknown, but lottery officials are urging anyone who bought a ticket to check it carefully.
Friday’s EuroMillions draw will now offer an estimated £14 million jackpot, giving players across the UK another chance to dream big while continuing a lottery tradition that has already changed thousands of lives.
