TIBBERTON CE First School took things to the next level when children in years one and two learned how to stage their very own mini wedding.

Helped along by Revd David Morris, children were encouraged to use their knowledge to plan and hold the whole event themselves.

While one group formed the wedding party, another was assigned roles that included master of ceremonies, florist and photographer.

From writing wedding prayers and vows to choosing music, the mock event gave children an exciting opportunity to plan all aspects of the special day.

The mini-planners also sent invitations to their peers at Hindlip CE First School, who joined them for the wedding, wedding breakfast and disco.

Alex Gromski, head of school, said: “The vibrant, fun-filled activity helped children learn about the traditions of a Christian wedding and gain a deep understanding of how this special time is celebrated.

“With their own experiences to draw upon in comparison, the magical event also inspired children to explore weddings from other faiths.”
