Could you work in social care and 'become someone's best friend'?

WORCESTERSHIRE County Council is looking for 20 people to work in social care and ‘become someone’s best friend’.

The authority is recruiting staff to help support people who are being discharged from an acute hospital but are in need of a period of assessment to understand what their future care and support requirements are.

The aim of the scheme is to help people maintain their independence for as long as possible.

Previously, after a stay in hospital, individuals would be accommodated in different locations, such as care homes, where they would receive care and support but often became more dependent. It is hoped that this will help ensure people live independently for as long as possible.

Both full and part-time roles are on offer. Flexible working hours are also available to make finding the right balance between working and home life easier, and full training will be provided.

Coun Adrian Hardman, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Adult Social Care, added: “Whilst ensuring people are able to live independently for as long as possible is one of Worcestershire County Council’s top priorities, more importantly social care can also be an incredibly rewarding role.

“We also want families know that their loved ones are receiving the best possible care that is solely focused on their immediate needs and long term independence.”
