A DROITWICH-based Wychavon Councillor has praised the authority’s staff for the way they have worked ‘around the clock’ to help businesses across the district.
Wychavon has so far paid out more than £19.2million to administer the Government’s support grants to firms which need financial assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.
Coun John Hartley praised the Wychavon business support team’s ‘Herculean effort’ which had included them working throughout the Easter weekend.
He added: “This is a time for action and the team at Wychavon have worked overtime to get these grants paid to local businesses as fast and as efficiently as possible.
“I know this has meant working long hours around the clock.
”When I checked in before the Easter Bank holiday, there was still over 1,000 businesses that had not registered.
“My Droitwich fellow councillors and I have been on the phone contacting those local businesses who have not yet applied.”
