Driver racially abused by a group of motorcyclists near Ombersley

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a group of motorcyclists smashed the window of a car and racially abused the driver while on the A449 near Ombersley.

A silver Volkswagen Golf was travelling north between Ombersley and Crossway green just before 1pm on Saturday (December 10) when it attempted to overtake a group of between eight to ten motorcycles, tricycles and quads riding in convoy.

The group then forced the Volkswagen to stop in the live carriageway of the road and verbally abused the driver, who was in his car with two small children.

One of the riders is believed to have smashed the windscreen and racially abused the driver of the car before leaving the area in the direction of Kidderminster.

The road was briefly closed and officers are appealing to any motorists who may have seen the incident and could have information useful to investigations.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: “We take any incidents of hate crime very seriously and they will not be tolerated.

“Nobody should have to suffer victimisation because of who they are and all reports we receive are thoroughly and robustly investigated.”

If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident please contact police on 101, quoting incident number 355s of 10 December.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
