Droitwich's Witton Post Office to reopen after successful campaign

Droitwich Editorial 9th Oct, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A POPULAR Droitwich Post Office which residents rallied around to save will reopen its doors in just over a week.

The Standard reported back in March that a petition calling for Witton Post Office to be brought back collected 380 signatures.

The counter had closed and an application was submitted to turn it into a veterinary surgery.

But campaigners stood firm and the new-look branch with extended hours, including some on Sundays, will reopen a week on Monday (October 20).

The Post Office has confirmed the combination counter would be available for 63.5 hours a week and there will be other improvements.

Customers will be able to access mail services, including special delivery, local collect and home shopping returns, along with online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Post Office services will be available from 6.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and between 7.30am and 1.30pm on Sundays.

Local residents will also be able to access a wide range of Post Office services during the shop opening hours.

Peter Wilkinson, area manager said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Witton and we are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.”
