Hundreds show interest in becoming a West Midlands Ambulance Service student paramedic

Droitwich Editorial 20th Jun, 2022   0

HUNDREDS of people have already shown an interest in joining West Midlands Ambulance Service(WMAS) just days after they announced plans to recruit almost 500 student paramedics.

The student paramedic programme provides a 42-month ‘earn as you learn’ start in the profession.

Around 250 people joined Trust staff at a careers event at Shrewsbury Town Football Club on Wednesday, with a similar fair set to happen on Sunday, June 26 at Dudleys Himley Hall as part of Armed Forces Day.

The event will run from 10am until 5:30pm and the recruitment team will be offering tips and advice on applying to become a student paramedic.

You will also be able to learn more about the course as well as the qualifications needed, interview techniques and more.

Visitors were able to try CPR during Wednesday’s event, practice parts of the fitness test and talk to student paramedics about the role.

WMAS recruitment manager, Louise Jones said it was fantastic to see so many people at their Shrewsbury event and they are looking forward to meeting more potential paramedics.
