Lickey Hills Rotary Club enjoy Drayton Manor trip

Droitwich Editorial 21st Jul, 2022   0

LICKEY Hills schoolchildren were among over 700 disadvantaged youngsters to enjoy a trip to Drayton Manor thanks to a joint effort between the local Rotarians and the Kids Out charity.

Youngsters were able to enjoy plenty of rides as part of the National Rotary Kids Day Out scheme, which returned for the first time since the pandemic.

Heart of England Rotary funded the subsidised tickets for the trip after speaking with the Park’s new owners, with Lickey Hills Rotary Club among the eight who supported the effort.

The National Rotary Kids Out Day has become the biggest outing for disadvantaged children in the UK since starting in 1990.

National Rotary Kids Out Day organiser, Bill Elliott, said: “There were times when we believed that this event would never take place again, so it was good to see everyone enjoying the day after so long.

“The park was not particularly busy and the weather was kind to us – it felt as if we had never been away.”
