Make it Worcestershire! - People urged to buy, eat, sell and stay local to boost county businesses

HOSPITALITY chiefs have been offered a welcome boost as the next phase of the Make It Worcestershire campaign has launched, offering much-needed support to hospitality organisations, as well as growers, producers and retailers.

The campaign, which first launched last year, will champion the ‘Buy, Eat, Sell & Stay Local’ motto, encouraging Worcestershire residents to become local heroes, whilst raising the profile and importance of local businesses.

To support businesses in their recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of ‘live’ events will take place across the county as a way of building relationships between local producers and venues. They will also offer the public an opportunity to connect with their local producers, growers and retailers.

Alongside the events, virtual webinars will take place to help support local businesses, as well as a three plus month social media campaign, a series of videos and podcasts, regular case studies and much more.

Richard Soper CBE, from One Worcestershire and former CEO of Worcester Bosch Group, said:

“Worcestershire is fast becoming a growing hub of fantastic hospitality venues, as well as the home to many amazing producers, growers and retailers.

Following the struggles of Covid-19 it is important we support these organisations in becoming successful, attracting business from both within and from outside the county.

The Make It Worcestershire campaign aims to provide support for the county’s food and drink sector, whether that’s by championing the importance of local produce, promoting venue bookings or connecting local businesses.”

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire LEP, said: “The past 14 months have been incredibly difficult for many organisations, particularly for those in the food and drink sector.

“As we take steps towards the reopening of the county, campaigns like this are essential to our recovery. They enable us to shine a spotlight on the great food and drink organisations we have within the county, raising the profile of Worcestershire and its businesses on a regional, national and international level.

“The Worcestershire LEP is proud to offer its continued support for the Make It Worcestershire campaign, and hopes it will bring together local businesses, as well our residents in supporting one another.”

Fiorinda Tocchini, owner of Feli’s Bar & Restaurant, Worcester, said: “It’s great to be involved in a campaign that really supports local hospitality, growers, producers and retailers.

“We’ve had a really difficult year, and although many of us have been able to adapt and offer something new, others have not been so lucky.

“The Make It Worcestershire campaign really highlights the benefits of supporting your local businesses and we look forward to playing our part in it.”
