Police urge residents to be aware of 'courier fraudsters'

Droitwich Editorial 26th Dec, 2019   0

POLICE are urging residents to be aware of ‘courier fraudsters’ across the county targetting vulnerable elderly victims.

The con sees the fraudsters pretending to be a police officer and saying there has been suspicious activitiy on their bank accounts or cards.

The victim is then encouraged to visit a local branch of their bank and withdraw funds, they then return home and await for a person to attend their home address to take the money and place it in a safe account.

They are also encouraged not to tell anyone about this.

West Mercia Police say they would never ask anyone to hand over money or vouchers and if someone asks you to do that you should hang up and tell someone what has happened. If you have been a victim of such a con call Police on 101.
