BABIES and toddlers across Worcester, Evesham and Droitwich have been joining in the festive celebrations with their annual Christmas parties at TinyTalk Baby Signing and Toddler Talking classes.
From special baby–sized presents to homemade snowmen and from cheeky Santas to family nativity scenes, families always put the sparkle into the signing classes
Local teacher Mollie Prior who has run the award-winning TinyTalk classes since 2017 in Evesham, Droitwich and Worcester North, said: “At the end of another tough year it was a joy to be able to be able to celebrate the Christmas season together with some TinyTalk fun.
“Signing has really hit the headlines after Strictly Come Dancing’s Rose and Giovanni dancing success and brought signing to the forefront of inclusivity and communication. There’s never been a perfect time to start learning sign language.”
TinyTalk classes are held on Mondays at Cropthorne Village Hall and Fridays at Dumbleton Village Hall and are weekly on hour sessions, full of songs, games, books and sensory activities followed by playtime and refreshments.
During the class babies and parents are taught signs from British Sign Language to help their little ones communicate before they can speak, ‘giving them a voice’- allowing them to express their thoughts and needs.
This results in far fewer frustrations and tantrums, and very happy, understood babies.
There are toddler talking classes too where we still teach sign but the emphasis moves onto talking and other valuable skills such as turn taking, team work, sharing and social skills.
