Sew good - hospital staff cut a dash in scrubs made with love

FROM ‘Scrub-a-Thons’ to ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ people across Worcestershire have been putting needle and thread to good use for our NHS.

The government may say the NHS has always had enough Personal Protective Equipment but the evidence from the way Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust snapped up the kit made by local people would point to the contrary.

Sewing machines operated by nimble fingers have been in full production from one woman operations to Dunhelm turning over their entire factory to the manufacture of scrubs.

Such has been the industry in the county the big hearted volunteers have even appeared in national newspapers.

In Bromsgrove the Worcester Road based Inkberrow Design Centre used the Model T Ford production system with parts being cut out and sewed by different teams across the county.

Yards of cloth was donated, begged and borrowed to turn into some pretty jazzy, classy outfits for theatre staff at the Alexandra Hospital, Worcestershire Royal and Kidderminster Treatment Centre theatre teams.

Such was their eye-catching quality that staff turned to the catwalk to model some of the creations you the people have produced.

The health trust tweeted: “Check out these amazing scrubs that have been donated to our theatre teams.

“We’re ‘sew’ grateful. The team really do love them!

“They are intended to be used for paediatric operating lists to help reduce anxiety amongst our younger patients.”
