Three Ways to Spend the Last of the Summer Evenings in the Black Country

Droitwich Editorial 5th Sep, 2023   0

The Black Country is a large area, and there is always something going on.

Either in Droitwich or further afield, plenty of entertainment is around to keep you occupied well into the night.

Below, we give three ways to spend the last of the remaining summer evenings.

Visit the Black Country Living Museum

Just a short trip from the town to Dudley, and you can find the Black Country Living Museum. In the daytime, it is a great place to take the family.

You can experience the sights, sounds and smells of 300 years of Black Country history. There are houses, shops and industrial workshops all showing you how life has evolved in the region. An exhibition on music through the ages is running this summer.

Throughout the season, the museum is open later so you can enjoy the attractions into the evening. Until September 1st, the museum is open until 8 every Friday. Not only do you get the museum itself, but there is street theatre and live music. Prices are reduced, so after 4 pm, you can get a ticket for a mere £7.50 allowing you to stay late for less.

Visit a Local Casino

Casinos are currently undergoing a renaissance. Once, they may have been the preserve of those who knew how to play such as the hardened poker players and slot game aficionados. Yet casinos have now realised the potential that exists if they attract casual players, meaning many will welcome you with open arms.

Part of this boom has been down to the popularity of online casinos and slot games. Allowing people to play at home has provided convenience and privacy. This has meant many people have now learnt how to play games online and are heading to physical casinos. Bolstered by innovative systems like Megaways slots, games are becoming more varied. If you have never visited one before, you can learn online and then head for a night out.

Even if gambling is not your thing, then many casinos have more to offer. Check their websites for live music, cabaret and drinks offers. You can have just as good a night as if you went to a gig or concert.

Eat, Eat, Eat In Moseley!

Moseley is one of the most desirable locations in the West Midlands. It has a cosmopolitan feel, with plenty of green areas and some great pubs and restaurants. That alone should be enough to make you want to pay a visit, yet for fans of great food, every August there is a special treat waiting. This comes in the form of the Moseley Food Festival. It has free entry and children and dogs are welcome. Open from 5 pm until late, some of the city’s best street food is on offer, from juicy burgers to spicy curries. A host of DJs and live acts are also playing to keep you entertained.

In such a vibrant area, you are sure to find many more ways to stay entertained. Check local listings and if you need to book, do so in advance. There is always something happening in the Black Country, much of which you won’t want to miss.
