THE HARD Knock Life of orphan Annie will take centre stage at Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre next week when the players stage their latest production.
The musical, based on American comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray, became a West End and Broadway hit and a popular film.
The story centres on a fiery young orphan girl who lives in a miserable orphanage run by tyrannical Miss Hannigan.
She is then chosen to spend time at the home of wealthy industrialist Oliver Warbucks where she quickly charms the hearts of the household staff and Warbucks himself.
He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by offering a reward but inspires Miss Hannigan, her evil brother Rooster and his female accomplice Lily, into some dramatic measures in a bid to claim the cash for themselves.
Performances take place at 7.30pm from Thursday to Saturday, October 17 to 19, and at the same times the following week, from October 24 to 26.
There are also matinees at 2.30pm on October 20 and 26.
