One-liners aplenty at Jigsaw Players' fantastically festive Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood panto in Lickey

THE JIGSAW Players’ production of Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood at The Trinity Centre in Lickey is fantastically fun, feelgood and festive.

The show featured everything needed for a fine traditional panto – a multitude of one liners, great audience interaction, music, dance and, of course, a happy ending.

Hannah Price was good as Robin Hood and the babes Ella and Sam were taken to the audience’s hearts from the off. Chloe Gould and Henry Dealaselle played their roles well and performed a lovely rendition of Somewhere Only We Know in the second half.

Mike Richter was excellent as the Sheriff of Nottingham, earning plenty of boos and having some good banter with the audience and Harrison Daley and Keelan Pavitt as his evil henchmen Snivel and Grovel complemented him well.

They also got plenty of laughs for their share of the one-liners.

But the best performance of the show went to Steve Levett as dame Nurse Nellie Nickerelastic. He dominated the stage from the time he first set foot on it and you could tell he was loving every minute entertaining the audience.

Memorable moments included the dame-led school classroom scene where it was difficult to keep up with the quick-fire gags, the rendition of Men in Tights by Robin and his merry men and the almost anarchic 12 Days of Christmas which gave the second half the perfect lively restart.

The next performance is 2pm today (Sunday) with more following at 7pm on Thursday and Friday (December 6 and 7), 4pm on Saturday, December 8, and 2pm next Sunday, December 9.

Tickets, at £11, are available by calling 07774 596769 or 07772 645722.
