£150,000 windfall for Droitwich housing scheme

Droitwich Editorial 18th May, 2018   0

A DROITWICH housing project has been handed a £150,000 windfall as part of a £45million national scheme unveiled by Housing Minister Dominic Raab.

Kingsfields will provide housing for vulnerable people in need of homes and environments in keeping with their individual needs.

There will be specific tailor-made accommodation for up to ten adults with profound multiple learning difficulties.

Coun Adrian Hardman, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Adults Social Care, said: “This funding announcement is great news for Worcestershire.

“We want to keep people living independently for as long as possible, and these new homes will allow them to do just that.”

In total, 79 national projects will be funded through the Land Release Fund, administered through a partnership with the Local Government Association (LGA) and Cabinet Office’s One Public Estate (OPE) programme.

It helps councils meet their ambition to unlock enough land for housing and money which can be used to combat barriers against development.

The aim is to unlock enough land for at least 160,000 homes by 2020 and work on each of the projects will progress to ensure they meet that deadline.

Earlier this year, Worcestershire secured more than £1million of Government funding to progress a number of exciting projects across the county.
