50 car batteries stolen as Hanbury Road waste plant is targeted by raiders

A HAUL of 50 car batteries in two pallets and a plastic box containing an unknown quantity of used batteries has been taken in a raid on a waste site in Droitwich.

The compound in Hanbury Road was targeted between 6pm last Friday (April 1) and 6am on Saturday and officers believe it was done because of the metal content of the cells. It was estimated the batteries would be worth £1,000.

Sgt Sarah Kent said there had been a few metal thefts in the town recently which coincided with the price of metal increasing. Prior to that, it had been pretty low.

Witnesses or anyone with any information on any of the above incidents should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
