Police are still on the hunt for the two men who attacked a 70-year-old pensioner in his own home, leaving him with life threatening injuries.

The victim, who lives on Oldfield Lane, Ombersley, is believed to still be in hospital one week after the attack due to his critical condition.

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the unprovoked assault in which two men wearing balaclavas forced their way inside the victim’s home, and searched his property before carrying out the vicious attack.

At the time Det Insp Chris Percival said: “I would like to reassure the community that we take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and a thorough investigation has begun.

“The victim suffered substantial injuries as a result of the assault and we are keen for anyone with information to get in touch.

“We’d also like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 10.15pm and 10.45pm as they may be able to help us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 889S of August 15.
