AN ADVENTURE trail is launching in Droitwich to coincide with the inaugural Rik Mayall Comedy Festival.

Residents are encouraged to get involved in the fun and creative Mayall Trail in the heart of Droitwich Spa.

Inspired by the wit and charm of the legendary Rik Mayall, who was born and raised in Droitwich Spa and started his illustrious career in the local theatre, this unique trail invites families to embark on a quest to uncover hidden jokers around the town and reclaim the King of Comedy’s stolen crown.

The Mayall Trail has been inspired by Rik Mayall’s Comedy Emporium, an empty shop transformed into a special joke-shop style mural dedicated to the life and laughs of local the comedy star.

Adventurers taking part in the trail can join the excitement and search for ten naughty jokers tucked away in shop windows throughout the town centre. Start by collecting a booklet from Droitwich Heritage Centre from Saturday, May 17 until June 7 (except on Sundays).

With each discovery, participants will get one step closer to finding Rik’s treasure. After completing the trail, children can explore their creative side with a special craft workshop at The Crafty Café.

Councillor Richard Morris, Leader of the Council and Executive Board Member for Economic Growth and Tourism, said: “I am so proud that Droitwich Spa is holding the first ever Rik Mayall Comedy Festival, and The Mayall Trail starts it off beautifully by inviting people to discover local shops within our vibrant town; the perfect place to unleash people’s imagination. I hope that everyone gets involved and shows their support.”

The Mayall Trail is a free event that can only be completed on set days.
