ORGANISERS of Droitwich’s hotly-anticipated Rik Mayall Comedy Festival have announced a new community partner to support the event’s delivery.

Chartered accountants Ormerod Rutter in Droitwich has been confirmed as a festival partner supporting the volunteers throughout the event, helping to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for attendees and performers.

Julian Powell, finance director of the festival, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Ormerod Rutter for their support as a community partner.

“As a well-respected business in the region, their commitment to the local community is evident, and we’re delighted to have them involved in the festival’s closing celebrations.”

The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival (May 31 to June 7, 2025) will feature a variety of performances, screenings, and workshops, with events taking place at the Norbury Theatre and other venues across Droitwich Spa.

The festival is volunteer-led, supported by Rik Mayall’s family, and aims to celebrate his legacy while bringing new visitors to the town, cementing its reputation and a great place to live, work and visit.

The opening day will feature a range of activities to engage residents and visitors, setting the stage for a week of comedy events.

A large portion of performances will be free and ‘pay what you want’ including stand-up, improv, theatre and live music.

Tony Archer, a partner at Ormerod Rutter for almost 30 years, is leading the firm’s commitment to the festival. He said: “We are heavily involved in supporting our local community in any way that we can.

“We were made aware of the festival, and wanted to be involved, especially as many of the partners and team are huge fans of local legend Rik. We like to give back in any way we can.”

The festival idea came from a discussion with Mayall’s family and local councillor Richard Morris. The family suggested a celebration in the town where he found his feet in entertainment was a fitting tribute.

Tickets are available for local residents from March 8. General sale is March 9. The festival team will be announcing more events in the run up.
