POLICE are dealing with reports of anti-social behaviour at Copcut Park, which has caused some ‘irreversible’ damage.
People have reported groups of youngsters have been congregating at the picnic tables during the evenings at the park.
There have been several reports of anti-social behaviour including drinking, loud music and littering.
Damage has included the breaking off of several newly planted blossom trees as well as breakages and graffiti on the picnic tables and signage.
The trees had been planted as part of the Plant It Britain and Countryfile National scheme and included a special Holm Oak Tree donated by County Coun Tony Miller for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee last June.
There has also been litter left in the park and pond.
At Monday’s community and amenities meeting, Town Clerk Mark Keld said the ‘unprecedented’ damage to the trees was considered to be irreversible.
He added no replacements would be considered for the time being while there are still issues at the park.
