Auditions set to get under way for Snow White panto at Droitwich's Norbury Theatre

IT MAY be summer but the countdown to the return of pantomime in Droitwich is already under way, starting today with dance auditions for Snow White at the Norbury Theatre.

Auditions for the rest of the roles take place on the afternoon and evening of August 15 with timings being revealed nearer the times.

Principals (including Snow White, the wicked Queen Avarice, principal boy Prince Ferdinand, dame Edna Bucket, Fairy Good Fortune and the dwarfs) will be auditioned first, followed by the chorus.

The production which will run from January 6 to 9, 13 to 16 and 20 to 22. Those dates will include matinees, as well as evening performances, on Saturdays and Sundays.

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting in September with extra sessions possibly needed on Sundays in December.

Adults will need to be available from 7.30pm to 10pm on the rehearsal nights and all cast members need to be available every night from the week the show opens as extra rehearsals may be required.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Alan P Frayn will be directed by Andy Brown with Laurence Nicholas as the musical director and choreography by Lois Press. Brian Hooper is the stage manager.

Anyone taking part will need to be a member of the Norbury Theatre or become a member before rehearsals with all members of the cast requiring to pay a £20 show levy.
