RESIDENTS across Droitwich are being urged to ensure they know where to go for healthcare over the bank holiday weekend.

The information has bee provided by health bosses in a bid to counteract the extra pressure which is always placed on emergency services over the extended breaks because of the number of people visiting A&E.

There will be a change in opening times for some NHS services, like GP practices and pharmacies, with some closures on Monday, August 28, so it is important to get organised and think ahead. Pharmacy opening times can be found on each off the three Worcestershire CCG websites.

Many minor complaints such as coughs and colds can be treated by staying at home, getting plenty of rest and making sure medicine cabinet is well stocked.

Pharmacists can give expert, confidential advice or medicines for minor ailments such as coughs and colds, tummy troubles and much more.

Boots Pharmacy, 50 St Andrew’s Square, Droitwich, will be open on bank holiday Monday, August 28, from 10am until 4pm.

The free NHS 111 helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for fast medical advice when it is not an emergency. This can include arranging an out-of-hours GP appointment.

Minor Injury Units (MIUs) offer fast, convenient and expert care for minor conditions including cuts, grazes, sprains and burns.

Bromsgrove’s Princess of Wales Community Hospital MIU is open between 8am and 8pm today and between midday and 8pm tomorrow, Sunday and bank holiday Monday.

Mari Gay, Chief Operating Officer for the three Worcestershire CCGs, said: “It’s important to plan ahead and make sure you’re fully prepared for the bank holiday weekend.”
