BENCHES have now been installed outside the Spa and Salters Medical Centres in Droitwich town centre so the elderly and less able have somewhere to sit while they wait for lifts and taxis after their appointments.
Previously they had to wait inside the surgery and constantly check for family members, friends or taxi drivers.
The installations followed meetings by a small working group led by Coun Alan Humphries..
Funding for the project was secured through a Town Council grant, a donation from the Droitwich Spa Rotary Club and support from the patient groups at both practices.
Once chosen, the benches were installed free of charge by local tradesman Craig Bourne.
Alan said he was delighted to be involved in the project.
“As ever I continue to be proud to be part of a town that looks after all of its citizens and would like to take this opportunity of thanking all who have contributed to the project for the generosity of their gifts of money, work and time.
“This is what makes Droitwich such a special place to live in and confirms out commitment to the community.”
