Bogus caller claiming to be from 'Safety at Home' project targeted house in Droitwich

Droitwich Editorial 27th Oct, 2019   0

A BOGUS caller claiming to be working for a project called Safety at Home targeted a property in Droitwich.

The man went to an address in the Stock Green area at midday on Thursday and arranged an appointment for the next day, claiming someone from the police would visit.

Enquiries were made by the home owner to West Mercia Police and the council which both had no knowledge of the project.

No-one attended the arranged appointment.

Anyone with any information or anyone who has encountered similar approaches should call police on 101.

Police have also warned people to be aware of anyone calling unannounced, particularly if they are asking for personal information, such as bank details.

Residents should always ask for ID and cross-check it with the organisation concerned or the police.

The police said if anyone was in doubt to the caller’s legitimacy, they should not let them into their home.
