A CONTROLLED explosion of a World War ll hand grenade was carried out by bomb experts in Droitwich on Sunday, April 11.
The grenade was discovered in Westwood Park at approximately 4.30pm by a member of the public.
Police quickly cordoned off the area until the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived.
Nearby residents said they heard the controlled explosion when it took place at roughly 7.25pm on the same day.
Sgt Sarah Kent of Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Teams said: “No one was harmed or put at risk and it was dealt with efficiently.
“There was quite a loud bang which I believe was heard across the West side of Droitwich.
“Our officer cordoned off the area to make sure members of the public were kept away.”
