'Brine treatment' will be the topic for Dr Roger Peberdy's Droitwich history talk

Droitwich Editorial 29th Jan, 2017   0

A TALK on The Brine Treatment will be given by Dr Roger Peberdy at the next meeting of the Droitwich History and Archaeology Society.

The event will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday (February 1) at the John Corbett Room, Droitwich Community Hall, Heritage Way.

Dr Peberdy was ‘the last of the brine doctors’ who used brine to offer treatments to Droitwich patients.

In his role as a GP for many years, he is well-remembered by many of his former patients.

And, as well as being familiar with the use of brine for medical purposes, he is also a historian who is keen on facts about the town.

Not only has Roger an interest in the history of brine treatments but he has a wealth of knowledge on local history, contributing articles to both the Droitwich History and Archaeology Newsletters and the Droitwich Spa Civic Society Newsletters. Recently he was involved with the Amberley book ‘Droitwich Through Time’ which compares historical pictures of Droitwich with a modern view of the same scene accompanied by a very succinct text.

Everyone is welcome on Wednesday for what should be a very informative talk.

Admission is £2 for society members and £4 for friends and visitors.
