Campaign to bring back Droitwich's Brine Baths receives double cash boost

Droitwich Editorial 21st Jul, 2018   0

THE CAMPAIGN to bring the Brine Baths back to Droitwich received two cash boosts this week.

First it was awarded £598 from Waitrose’s Community Matters scheme, thanks to shoppers voting for the venue with their green tokens.

And at around the same time Droitwich Methodist Church contacted SOBBS (Save Our Brine Baths) to say it had raised £122 through a bring and buy event.

Bill Moy, chair of SOBBS, said: “We would like to thank Waitrose, the people of the town and the church for their support.”

Back in May Wychavon District Council approved plans to build a dual-purpose brine bath, jacuzzi and cafe in Droitwich Spa’s Lido Park.

These latest donations are good news as the fund-raising continues to put back the brine baths which, for more than 170 years, gave relief to people suffering from a range of conditions and brought thousands of visitors to Droitwich.
