Carpet ban brought in as part of new Droitwich allotment terms

Droitwich Editorial 14th Nov, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

TERMS and conditions on Droitwich’s allotment tenancy agreements are to be changed to prevent old carpet, underlay, tyres and asbestos being brought onto plots.

The changes were rubber-stamped by Droitwich Town Councillors at the Community and Amenities meeting on Monday.

Old carpet and flooring, used to keep weeds down, and tyres and weights to anchor them have led to soil contamination and problems with disposing of the items.

The clauses relating to the banned items will be introduced to the new tenancy agreements to prevent the authority incurring clean-up costs.
