WYMSICAL Theatre will be celebrating William Shakespeare through song and dance in its latest performance at the Norbury Theatre next Saturday (July 15.)
‘A Wymsical Dream Of Midsummer’ celebrates the works of the legendary playwright and will feature musicals including ‘Kiss Me Kate’, ‘All Shook Up’, ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’, ‘Something Rotten’ and ‘The Boys of Syracuse’.
Audiences will also enjoy Cleary, Nathan and Cranney’s musical version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by the theatre’s younger performers.
Vaughan Williams’ ‘Serenade to Music’ and some of Shakespeare’s scenes and sonnets will also be included.
This year, Droitwich will be commemorating local legend John Heminge on the 400th anniversary of the publication of the ‘First Folio’, the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays.
The first folio was collated and edited by Heminge and Henry Condell seven years after the legendary playwright’s death.
Both Heminge and Condell were actors and friends of Shakespeare.
‘A Wymsical Dream Of Midsummer’ will get under way at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 each and £8 for under 19s.
