THE PRIMROSE Hospice has praised the organisers of a charity football match which raised £18,089.19 for the cause.
The match took place at the end of March in memory of Bromsgrove Rovers legend Mark Crisp.
The match between the Birmingham All Stars and the Bromsgrove XI at the Victoria Ground was organised by Mark’s son Max.
The cash was raised through ticket sales, a raffle and an auction of football merchandise, including signed premier league shirts.
Primrose Hospice fundraiser, Kelly Wetherall, said: “There was such a lovely atmosphere on the day, the sheer number of people who attended was quite incredible.
“All the pre-match help from individuals and support of businesses goes a long way to show how well Mark and his family is thought of.
“The support from the Harry Bennett Foundation and Tom’s Fund charities is a great example of how football can bring people together.
“For patients with life-limiting illnesses and people experiencing bereavement, Primrose is a lifeline from the moment they are referred.
“It is with thanks to the generosity of people like Max and everyone who contributed to making the match a success, that Primrose can continue to provide these services.”
