Chateau Impney Hill Climb returns to Droitwich this weekend

THE CHATEAU Impney Hill Climb returns to the historic hotel in Droitwich tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday (July 9).

This year is a special one for the event as it is the 50th anniversary since the inaugural Chateau Impney Speed Trial in 1967.

There will be a host of events taking place on both days.

The gates and food courts open at 7.30am on Saturday and Sunday and then the timetable is as follows.




On Saturday, the morning practice will be between 8.45am and 12.45pm. There will be demonstrations throughout the lunch break (12.45pm to 1.45pm) and there will be a fly past during the day.

The afternoon practice starts at 1.45pm and concludes at 5.30pm with the food courts also closing then and the gates shutting at 6pm.


On Sunday the morning competition runs from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

The lunch break – from 12.30pm to 1.45pm – will feature demonstrations and an air display.

The afternoon compeition runs begin at 1.45pm and take place until 5.30pm when there will be the Hill Climb trophy presentation.

Events

Footman James Concours D’Elegance

Footman James will be sponsoring the Chateau Impney Hill Climb’s Concours D’Elegance which will include an eclectic selection of cars from all ages and types of vehicle ranging from the ex-Richard Bolster Bloody Mary through to a 1990 Benneton Formula one car. Both these cars will also be taking to the track for the lunchtime demonstrations. Winners of the concours will be selected by public.

The concours event will also be supported by the Bugatti Owners Club who will bringing five fantastic Bugattis provided by their members: a Type 46S with Coachwork by Billiter and Cartier, a Type 40 Fiacre, the “Lydia” Bugatti, a Type 57 Atalante, a Type 44 with stylish touring open coachwork and an original Type 59 Grand Prix racing car.

 

Group B Rally Demonstration Runs

This year we will be welcoming a large variety of Group B rally cars to demonstrate up the course. The Group B regulations fostered some of the most powerful and sophisticated rally cars ever built and is commonly referred to as the golden era of rallying. These demonstrations should not be missed with fifteen cars already confirmed including: Ferrari 308 GTB, Audi Quattro S1 E2, Ford RS 200, Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, Metro 6R4 and Peugeot T16.

 

Family Content

The Chateau Impney Hill Climb is not just about the motorsport. The 2017 event will include even more family content with not only the return of the free vintage fun fair, but a sports village with the support from Worcester Warriers Rugby Club, Worcester Cricket Club, Worcester Wolves Basketball Club, Worcester Football Club and also an arena in which electric bikes can be sampled. We will also be joined by the local army barracks who will be providing a display of military vehicles and a climbing wall. All elements will be free of charge.

 

Air display

The Chateau Impney Hill Climb will also be presenting a team of the RAF in a Lancaster bomber which will be taking to the sky, performing fly pasts on both Saturday and Sunday.

50th Anniversary Celebration

The Chateau Impney hill Climb is a revival of events run by the Hagley and District Car Club between 1957 and 1967. 2017 marks 50 years since the last running of the original sprint in period. To celebrate we will be inviting cars back who competed in period including: ERA R4D and the Caesar Special who competed against one another in the same class in 1957,1959 and 1960.
