'Check on your neighbours and the lonely this festive season' - A Christmas message from the Droitwich Council leader

Droitwich Editorial 24th Dec, 2024   0

AS THE year comes to a close, nights lengthen and we lose the warmth of our days.

It is a time for both reflection on the past year, as well as hope and optimism for the future.

Our thoughts turn to all of those we love and everything we hold most dear, as well as those affected by turmoil and the less fortunate.

Christmas is a time of celebration but can also be challenging and lonely for many. Be sure to check on regularly and look after friends, family, neighbours and cherished animals to provide sufficiently for all of their needs especially warmth, shelter and sustenance.

The Droitwich Spa Spirit of Community and sense of place resonates strongly with the values of friendship and kindness.

Be sure to celebrate the season through visiting the many special events over the festive period.

Special recognition should be made towards our emergency services, carers and support workers who provide essential cover and reassurance throughout the Year and especially at Christmas time.

This admiration extends to all those who actively participate in our community for the voluntary and charity sectors

I maintain a strong sense of optimism for the town as we move into 2025 with so many exciting initiatives now proceeding.

Highlights include the Lido Park regeneration, the Leisure Centre improvement scheme, the refurbishment of the Museum and Heritage Centre and the imminent completion of the Natural

Networks programme for biodiversity at Copcut Park and Spring Meadow.

There are many other emerging projects which will ensure Droitwich Spa continues to lead with pride as a desirable place to live and work and as a visitor destination.

Wishing you and yours a merry Christmas, happy holidays and an excellent new year.

Leader,

Droitwich Spa Town Council
