HOUSEHOLDERS on almost 50 streets across the county will take part in the first ever ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ this weekend.
The event will start at 9.30am on Saturday, June 10, with stalls expecting to close by 5pm.
The Big Worcestershire Garage Sale is the brainchild of Matt Nicol and has been organised by local estage agency Nicol & Co with those selling items signing up – some roads have multiple households taking part.
The community project aims to get as many people as possible across the county to join together to declutter their homes and sell unwanted items.
As well as organising the event, Nicol & Co as helped people prepare for the ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ by providing signage and promoting addresses on streets where homeowners are taking part in the lead up to the big day.
Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “The idea is simple – householders are getting as many neighbours in their street as possible to declutter their homes to create more space and get rid of reusable items in the garage sale.
“People can potentially make a decent amount of money by pricing items reasonably and attracting buyers.
“Plus it’s a great way to meet neighbours and members of the community, with people coming hopefully from all over to browse through their items.
“We’ve had a tremendous response with householders on 45+ streets signed up to take part with named contacts as the local organisers.
“Many streets will have several householders taking part, and so the numbers of individual addresses taking part is expanding all the time.
“It’s pretty successful with it being our first go, and lots of great conversations are now being had in various streets about turning this into a bit of a big ‘social’ event!”

There is also a garage sale being organised by householders in Dilmore Lane and Coley Close, Fernhill Heath
