CHILDREN at Chatterbox Pre-School were left speechless when members of Droitwich Community Choir presented them with a giant cheque – but the decibels were quickly raised when they were told it was for new toys.
The cash was raised with a Christmas concert organised by the choir which also featured Droitwich Spa High School’s Madrigal Choir and the Salvation Army Brass Band.
Half the proceeds – £352.88 – was given to Chatterbox with the remainder going to Droitwich Gateway Challengers.
Both Chatterbox and Droitwich Spa Community Choir are looking for new members. The choir is desperate for some more men – tenor and bass – while the popular playgroup has a few vacancies following moves to ‘big school’.
The choir rehearses on Tuesdays at 7.30pm at Droitwich Working Men’s Club in Friar Street (opposite the Old Town Hall) and the Chatterbox Community Pre-school meets at Fernhill Heath Memorial Hall.
Chatterbox manager Maria Jackson said: “We’re so thankful to the choir.
“It’s a lovely way to start the summer term, with all this money for resources for the children.”
Chatterbox Community Pre-School is open weekdays from 8.30am until 5.45pm and will be offering 30 funded hours from the middle of September.
